About the Course...
Adult Mental Health First Aid
Accredited by MHFA England
The Adult Mental Health First Aid (Two Day) course is an internationally recognised, evidence-based training programme designed to give you the knowledge, awareness and practical skills to support someone experiencing poor mental health.
Across two interactive and engaging days, you will explore what mental health is, how it can be influenced by risk and protective factors, and the impact stigma can have on individuals and organisations. The course provides in-depth understanding of common mental health conditions including anxiety disorders, depression, psychosis, eating disorders and substance misuse, alongside suicide awareness and how to respond appropriately in crisis situations.
Participants develop the ability to:
Recognise early warning signs of mental ill health
Understand the signs and symptoms of common conditions
Approach conversations with confidence and sensitivity
Listen actively and respond in a non-judgemental way
Provide initial reassurance and appropriate support
Encourage and guide someone towards professional help
Maintain professional boundaries within the Mental Health First Aider role
Look after their own wellbeing while supporting others
Through group discussions, case studies and realistic scenarios, learners practise applying these skills in everyday situations, building genuine confidence rather than just theoretical knowledge.
On completion, you will qualify as a certified Mental Health First Aider, receive a certificate valid for three years, and gain access to ongoing support resources provided through MHFA England.
Ideal for managers, HR professionals, wellbeing leads and individuals committed to promoting positive mental health, this training equips you to step forward, reduce stigma and contribute to creating safer, more supportive environments.
