Who Is It For?

This course is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over who wants to increase their awareness of mental health and build confidence in supporting others. It is particularly valuable for individuals who want to promote positive mental health, challenge stigma and contribute to creating supportive environments — whether in the workplace or wider community.

What Will You Learn?

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and interactive workshop activities, creating a supportive and engaging environment.

During the course, you will:

​

  • Develop a clear understanding of what mental health is and how it can fluctuate along the Mental Health Continuum

  • Explore common mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, psychosis and substance misuse

  • Understand the impact of stigma and how language influences mental health conversations

  • Learn to recognise early signs and symptoms of poor mental health

  • Gain confidence in starting supportive, non-judgemental conversations

  • Be introduced to the Mental Health First Aid action plan and understand how it can guide your response

  • Understand the importance of boundaries and knowing when to signpost to professional support

  • Learn practical ways to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in your environment

By the end of the course, you will feel more informed, more confident and better equipped to play an active role in improving mental health awareness and support wherever you are.
